NTA’s audits for the proper implementation of the measures to prevent the spread of SARS-COV2 at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport and in Municipalities of the Territory

During the period from 09.06.2020 to 14.06.2020, National Transparency Authority in cooperation with the Hellenic Police and in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Deputy Ministry of Civil Protection and Crisis Management conducted inspections in 19 Municipalities throughout the country and at the airport. Eleftherios Venizelos with the object of the correct observance of the measures for the restriction of dispersion of SARS COV-2. Ladders of NTA and Hellenic Police checked a total of 278 points of interest in 22 of which violations were recorded (7.9%) and imposed 26 fines totaling 34,850€ mainly for not using a mask by the work staff and for exceeding the correct ratio people per area in the audited stores of health interest. NTA Inspectors-Auditors continue to find a relaxation in staff protection measures with compliance rates declining, which poses a risk to public health.

During the on-site inspection on 12.06.2020 at the airport, El. Venizelos high percentage of compliance with the measures to prevent the spread of the virus was found.

• Use of a mask by passengers and staff.

• Observance of the necessary distances in waiting and passenger service areas.

• Controlled boarding-disembarking of passengers.

• Operation of Health Interest Stores inside the Airport.

• Implement measures to promote hand hygiene.

• Observance of hygiene rules.

CONTROL RESULTS AND PROTECTION SUPPORT:

Municipality of Chalandri: Three (3) Health Interest Stores were fined 450€ for not using a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Palaio Faliro: Four (4) stores of health interest imposed a total of six (6) fines of 900€ for not wearing the mask by the working staff.

Municipality of Serres: Three (3) stores of health interest were fined three 450€ in total

Municipality of Patras: Two (2) fines were imposed on two cafes-bars with a total amount of 22,000€ and a 30-day suspension of operation each for non-compliance with the correct proportion of people per store area.

Municipality of Rethymno:

• A cafe was fined a fine of 10,000€ and 30 days of suspension for non-compliance with the correct proportion of people per area.

• Three (3) citizens were fined (3) three fines total for 450€ for non-compliance with the distances.

Municipality of Trikala: In three (3) stores of health interest, four fines (4) of a total amount of 600€ were imposed for non-use of a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Thermaikos: A cafeteria was fined 150€ for not using a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Larissa: Three (3) stores of health interest were fined three (3) fines totaling 450€ for not using a mask by the work staff.
