Audits by the NTA and the Hellenic Police on the implementation of the Anti-Smoking Law

The national target for the reduction of smoking, as recorded in relevant surveys, is agreed by the vast majority of Greek society, which expects tangible signs of the state's will to implement the relevant provisions. In this context, a team of Inspectors-Auditors of the National Transparency Authority in cooperation with members of the Hellenic Police carried out on Saturday, 26.10.2019, compliance audits with the existing provisions on protection from tobacco products, in shops of sanitary interest in the centre of Athens, making recommendations for the proper implementation of the requirements of this institutional framework. In the next period, a comprehensive programme of audits will be developed and implemented by mixed teams of the relevant services, in order to ensure the implementation of the law, the protection of public health and the equal operation of businesses falling within the scope of the relevant provisions.
