The National Transparency Authority’s (NTA) Governor, Mr. Angelos Binis, participated on Thursday 03.06.2021 in the Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGASS 2021), which is taking place in New York (2-4 June 2021), in order to adopt a political declaration on the challenges and measures to prevent and combat corruption, as well as to strengthen international cooperation between the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
Mr. Binis, in his statement, referred to the catalytic role of technology in the fight against corruption, stressing that modern digital tools facilitate the flow of information, enhance transparency and accountability, simplify and automate procedures, increasing productivity and significantly reducing bureaucracy. At the same time, technology and the modern tools it offers, reduce the potential for fraud, facilitate its detection, reduce administrative costs, improve citizens' trust in the institutions, and contribute to improving the investment environment.
