The National Transparency Authority in cooperation with the Hellenic Police and in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Undersecretary of Civil Protection and Crisis Management continues throughout the territory the controls of proper implementation of measures to limit the spread of SARS COV-2. The main reason for imposing fines was the non-use or improper use of a protective mask by the employees, mainly in the Health Interest Stores.

NTA scales during the period 25.05.2020 to 07.06.2020 checked a total of 714 points of interest in 50 of which violations were recorded (7%) and imposed 80 fines totaling 15,300€. 

The inspections were carried out at public gathering and service points such as: shops, malls, Super Markets, cafes, restaurants, bars, banks, tutoring schools, pharmacies, clinics, take-away, delivery, public services, parks, playgrounds, Bus Stations, Private Centers for Car Technical Inspections and train stations.

B. Results of audits and imposition of fines:

Municipality of Ag. Paraskevis : A total of 1950 € fine was imposed on six (6) Health Interest Stores for not using a mask by work staff. 

Municipality of Neapolis Sykeon: Fines of a total amount of € 600 were imposed on two (2) HIS and two (2) food shops for not using a mask by the work staff. 

Municipality of Thermi: Three (3) fines totaling € 450 were imposed on KTEO for not using a mask by the work staff. 

Municipality of Kalamaria: Five (5) fines totaling € 750 were imposed on three (3) grocery stores for not using a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Larissa: A total of € 300 fines were imposed on a cafeteria and a grocery store for not using a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Peristeri: imposed five (5) fines total amount of € 750 in two (2) HIS and two (2) fines totaling 300€ to food shop for not wearing the mask of the working staff.

Municipality of Nikaia-Ag. Ioannis Rentis: A private KTEO was fined (1) a fine of 1000 € because the company kept a list of appointments, which was submitted to the control ladder, however it was found that, a Private Use vehicle, which was not recorded in the list, was served.

Municipality of Athens: Twelve (12) fines totaling € 1800 were imposed on six (6) HIS stores and one (1) fine of € 150 on a grocery store for not using a mask by security personnel. 

Municipality of Moschato:

  • A doctor's office imposed (1) a fine of 300€, for not using a mask by the doctor. 

  • Two fines of 150€ were imposed on a grocery store (2), with a total fine of 300€, for not using a mask by the work staff.

  • In a supermarket store, two fines of 150€ were imposed (2), a total amount of fines of 300€, for not using a mask by the work staff.

  • In a delivery-take away store, a fine of 150€ was imposed (1) for not using a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Glyfada: Two (2) fines totaling 300€ were imposed on HIS and one (1) fine of 150€ on a grocery store for not using a mask by the work staff.

Municipality of Marathon: 

  • Two fines (2) of 1000€ were imposed on each of them in clothing stores for non-compliance with the schedule of working hours.

  • A butcher was fined (1) a fine of 150€ for not using a mask by the work staff.

  • Two (supermarket) stores were fined three (3) fines totaling 450€ for not using a mask by the work staff.

  • A doctor's office imposed (1) a fine of 300€ for not using a mask by a doctor. 

  • A cafeteria was fined (1) 150€ for not using a mask by the staff.

Municipality of Thessaloniki:

  • Six (6) fines were imposed on three (3) bars totaling 900€ for not using a mask by the work staff 

  • Two HIS were fined five (5) 750€ in total for not using a mask by the work staff,

Municipality of Karditsa:

  • In a supermarket, a fine of 150€ was imposed (1), for not using a mask by the work staff.

  • A fine of 150€ was imposed on a grocery store (1) for not using a mask by the work staff.

  • Four (4) HIS were fined 150€ each for not using a mask by the work staff. 

Municipality of Volos: a food store was fined (1) a fine of 150€, for not using a mask by the work staff.

The Inspectors-Auditors made recommendations where this was deemed necessary to maintain distances and strengthen individual protection measures (eg antiseptics within stores / services) and answered questions from business / professionals regarding the proper implementation of anticipated protection measures.
