On Wednesday 15.06.2022, the International Webinar entitled "Designing and Implementing Effective Whistleblowers Protection Systems" was successfully held with great participation in the framework of the implementation of the Annual Work Programme of the Network of Corruption Prevention Authorities of the Council of Europe (NCPA) under the Presidency of the National Transparency Authority (NTA).
Mr. Ioannis Foustanakis, Director of Strategic Planning and Behavioural Analysis Department of the NTA, representing the Network's Presiding Authority, opened the proceedings. As the topic is high on the agenda of all Anti-Corruption Authorities, the workshop was attended by more than 100 anti-corruption professionals from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
During the first part, distinguished speakers from the EU, the Anti-Corruption Authorities of Italy, Moldova, Palestine, South Africa, the Ministry of Justice of Romania and the Regional Anticorruption Initiative presented the European Directive as well as their experiences at national and regional level on the regulation of the framework for the protection of whistleblowers. In the second part of the seminar, participants had the opportunity to discuss about the challenges and opportunities related to the practical implementation of the regulatory framework and to evaluate case studies on how to effectively integrate these provisions into the national legal framework and how to address implementation challenges in practice.
