The Council of Ministers, in the presence of the Governor of the National Transparency Authority (NTA), Mr. Angelos Binis, approved during its meeting today, following a proposal by the Minister of State, Mr. George Gerapetritis, the National Strategic Plan for the Fight against Corruption (NACAP) for the period 2022 - 2025.
The NACAP is the main policy tool at national level for preventing and addressing corruption phenomena, with its implementation ensuring at the same time the implementation of the relevant reforms undertaken by the country at international and European level.
Having assumed from its inception the responsibility of developing, monitoring, evaluating and redesigning the NACAP, the NTA has actively cooperated with 24 public policy planning and implementation bodies in order to specialise its individual actions.
The structure of the NACAP 2022 - 2025 follows a holistic approach to address the multidimensional phenomenon of corruption in an integrated manner, based on the following key operational pillars:
- Prevention,
- Fighting
- Repression,
- Awareness-raising
At the heart of the planning was the development of a clear and coherent national strategic plan, with specific objectives, in the context of which targeted interventions can be integrated and specified, with specific results and high added value.
In this context, the NACAP 2022-2025 consists of:
- 3 Strategic Objectives, based on the above three priority operational pillars,
- 9 Specific Objectives;
- 129 Actions
The approval and monitoring of the NACAP 2022-2025 by the country's highest collective governmental body, further underline the importance that Greece attaches to the fight against fraud and corruption, through the strengthening of integrity, transparency and public accountability, both to enhance citizens' trust in the institutions and to support the growth dimension of the Greek economy, as well as the effective use of the Recovery Fund resources.
