Following a complaint against a doctor and director of a public hospital in the prefecture of Attica, the NTA Inspections and Audits Unit conducted an audit of his financial situation. The audit revealed that, as a person liable under the provisions of Law 3213/2003 on Asset Declaration, he had submitted inaccurate Asset Statements. Specifically, he failed to declare a plot of land purchased in Evia, shares in mutual funds with a valuation of €51,000, as well as shares in a private clinic providing services in his field of expertise.
Furthermore, a recent audit revealed that a prison officer has been operating a personal service company for over a decade, concurrently engaged in the wholesale and retail trade of related items. This is in contravention of Article 32, paragraph 2 of Law 3528/2007, which explicitly prohibits the involvement of public officials in any personal commercial enterprise.
In light of the above, the NTA has requested that the competent disciplinary supervisors initiate disciplinary proceedings. With regard to the first case, the report has been forwarded to the Prosecutor of the Athens Court of Appeal for a criminal evaluation of the audit findings.
