An innovative Summer Academy is being organised by the NTA, from 27.06.2024 to 09.07.2024, in cooperation with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and the Hong Kong International Academy Against Corruption (HKIAAC). The Summer Academy started today (27.06.2024) and will be held hybrid at the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, and will include two training programmes, which will focus on current trends and challenges faced by anti-corruption organisations in the field of deterrence and prevention, as well as the exchange of important know-how.
During the training programmes, senior executives of ICAC and HKIAAC will present the structure and operation of the two bodies (ICAC and HKIAAC), the audit tools and methods of prevention and deterrence of corruption phenomena they apply, while at the same time, real case studies will be analysed, the way they are managed through state-of-the-art international standards and best practices, with particular emphasis on the key role of new technologies.
In total, more than 150 NTA executives and officials from other bodies with which the Authority cooperates, in the context of National Coordinating Body for Audit and Accountability (ESOEL), will be trained. The ESOEL is a model collective body that implements significant actions, enhancing cooperation between its 17 member bodies in the field of audit and anti-corruption.
It is noted that the training programme is part of the multi-level cooperation and constructive synergies that the NTA has developed with the two internationally renowned institutions of Hong Kong (ICAC and HKIAAC) and includes, inter alia, the exchange of important know-how, the implementation of working meetings between the executives of the Authorities, as well as the implementation of training and education programmes for the NTA’s personnel. These synergies contribute to the continuous improvement of the operational capacity of the Authority's staff and allow the exploitation of all innovative practices and methodologies with the aim of formulating innovative public policies for the benefit of Greek citizens.
Finally, during today’s first day of the training programme, the H.E. Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xiao Junzheng, delivered a welcome address.
