Following a complaint during the period 01.01.2024 to 28.04.2024, a team of auditors -inspectors of the National Transparency Authority with the assistance of the Hellenic Police, carried out inspections in four Opap (Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics S.A.) Play gambling shops, within the boundaries of the municipalities of Kalamata and Tripoli, with the aim of ensuring compliance with the anti-smoking legislation.
An infringement rate of 75% was recorded since only one OPAP gambling shop was found to have no infringements.
Specifically, during the on-site inspection, it was found that:
- Three (3) smoking customers with the acquiescence of the persons in charge of the operation of these stores while in another store there were found to be scattered ashtrays.
- A total of 1,800€ in fines were imposed by the Hellenic Police, i.e. a total of 1,800€:
- 300€ to the three smokers (100€ each) and
- 1500€ to the three persons responsible for their operation
It is noted that in all the above-mentioned shops there was adequate signage on the smoking ban.
