Following a complaint, an NTA inspections team - with the assistance of the Hellenic Police - carried out an audit in an area of the Ionian Islands Region, on 27.09.2023, in a store which, according to the complainants, was selling medicines while it did not have a pharmacy license.
During the on-site inspection of the store, the sale of prescription medicine (antibiotics) was found and numerous pharmaceutical preparations were found - for which a prescription was required - without the store having a pharmacy license.
In addition, drugs were found for which a special drug prescription was required (Lexotanil, Stedon, Hipnostedon, Xanax) and the Hellenic Police confiscated them.
For the case, a criminal case was formed for trafficking in drugs and the owner of the store was arrested and taken to the competent prosecutor.
Following the above findings of the NTA team, during the on-site inspection, a report will be prepared and forwarded to:
a) the competent Public Prosecutor and
b) the public services involved for their own actions
