As the pandemic represents another challenge in the relationship between citizens and institutions, the National Transparency Authority has conducted a public opinion survey, the results of which were presented today at the 1st Integrity Forum on the occasion of 9 December - International Anti-Corruption Day.
The objective of the survey, entitled "Your Opinion Counts", is to ascertain citizens’ attitudes and perceptions on issues of corruption, control, integrity and transparency, with a particular focus on the Authority's competencies.
It should be noted that this is not a scientific opinion survey according to the relevant standards, but was conducted internally by NTA staff and responses were received from a random sample of citizens and professionals at no cost to the Greek taxpayer.
Some interesting facts that emerged include:
- The largest percentage of citizens who voted consider the problem of corruption in Greece to be very important;
- Public works and public procurement are considered the sector most exposed to corruption; impunity is considered by citizens to be one of the most important factors for the existence of corruption;
- 78% of respondents are aware of the NTA and its work.
