The National Transparency Authority (NΤA) has been elected to the Presidency of the Council of Europe's Network of Corruption Prevention Authorities (NCPA) with Croatia, Morocco and the Palestinian Authority as Vice-Chairs. This is the first time that Greece assumes the Presidency of this international network.
The Network consists of 31 members and is based on the principles of the Council of Europe Anti-Corruption Conventions, taking into account the assessments of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), as well as the principles of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), aiming to deepen international cooperation in preventing and combating corruption and to strengthen the operational capacity of its member states through the exchange of good practices.
The NTA Governor, Mr. Angelos Binis, in a message to the Heads of NCPA members expressed his thanks for their confidence in the NΤΑ and assured the Authority's commitment to achieving the Network's objectives, stressing the importance of multilateral cooperation in order to produce measurable results in enhancing transparency and integrity.
In the near future, the Presidency, under the NTA’s coordination will develop an annual action plan focusing on the design of high value-added activities to share good practices and strengthen the capacity of Network’s member states to design and implement effective policies and tools to prevent, combat and raise public awareness of fraud and corruption.
