The contribution of the NTA's audit work to enhancing transparency and integrity in sports.

"Legislative intervention of the Deputy Minister of Sports Mr. Vroutsis following proposals and recommendations of the NTA"

The National Transparency Authority, in the framework of articles 52 and 52A of Law No. 2725/1999 (A 121), "Amateur and professional sport and other provisions", as in force, has conducted and is conducting management and financial audits in sports federations and / or bodies, supervised by the Ministry of Sports.

The reports of the NTA included proposals for legislative regulations, as regards the financial management of the resources of the audited federations and bodies, in order to settle any debts.

Several of the above proposals of the reports of the NTA were accepted by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. Vroutsis, and were regulated by law through the provision of Article 84 of Law No. 5128/2024 (A 118/30.07.2024), on "brake on the uncontrollable debts of sports federations and rationalization in their financial obligations" from 01.01.2024, as stated in the press release of 08.08.2024 Deputy Minister of Sports.

Sports Federations, in addition to strict compliance with the provisions, for the approval of their budgets on an annual basis, required the submission of, among other things, "Confirmation of the body that has taken the necessary steps to implement the proposals- recommendations listed in the audit report of the auditors of the National Transparency Authority (applicable to those federations have been audited by the NTA)."

The NTA, with the recommendations of its reports, continues to make its greatest contribution to the prevention and fight against potential sources of corruption and mismanagement.
