The National Transparency Authority (NTA) conducted an ex-officio inspection on the actions taken by a regional secondary education directorate regarding the authenticity of a teacher's qualifications. During the audit, it was found that the non-genuine qualification (postgraduate degree) was awarded 20 points by the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP), which did not affect the teacher's position in the list of candidates for appointment, since the next candidate had a difference of more than 20 points.
The report was sent to the prosecution authorities, disciplinary responsibilities were sought, and the competent services of the Ministry of Education were suggested to ensure the issuance of circular instructions on the verification of the authenticity of teachers' supporting documents and the procedure for the transfer of funds to cover the expenses incurred.
The General Directorate of Education Personnel for Primary & Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education accepted the proposal of the NTA and issued a circular which was sent to all the Directorates of Education of the country, giving clear instructions.
The circular states, inter alia, that:
.... all Administrative/Human Resources Directorates are requested to inform the National Transparency Authority), of the actions they have taken so far, but also from now on for any case identified, as described above, by completing the online application created for this purpose.
The electronic platform/application (https://rns.aead.gr/titloi/login.asp) is available on the Authority's website, in which the Administrative Departments of the departments and bodies of the Greek public sector are obligated to register the information on the relevant authenticity checks of the qualifications of their employees and to inform the Authority in written form.
The ex-officio inspections by NTA on the authenticity of qualifications continue throughout the Greek public sector.
