In order to cooperate in sharing information and data for the development and consolidation of best practices, strengthening integrity, accountability and anti-corruption, Public Power Coorperation S.A. (PPC) and the National Transparency Authority (NTA) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC).
The common expected objectives included in the Memorandum of Cooperation between the PPC and the National Transparency Authority were confirmed during the signing of the MoC, by the Chairman and CEO of the PPC Mr. George Stassis and the Governor of the National Transparency Authority Mr. Angelos Binis. The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, June 7, at PPC's offices, was attended by Mr. Argyris Economou, Legal Counsel and Director General of PPC's, Ms. Mary Konstantinidou, Director General of General Directorate of Integrity and Accountability of the National Transparency Authority and Ms. Alexandra Stavrinou, Director of Compliance of the PPC.
According to the MoC, the multi-level cooperation includes specific actions and initiatives to strengthen integrity mechanisms, deepen internal audits and intensify training and awareness raising.
In particular it includes:
Integrity mechanism
- Support for the design of strategic, integrated policy and targeted actions to strengthen and combat corruption,
- Develop a tool to assess the maturity level of integrity and anti-corruption mechanisms
- Provide expertise for the design of a methodological framework for integrity risk management,
- Review of the revised PPC’s Code of Ethical Conduct and proposals for optimisation,
- Exchange of know-how and methodological tools between the NTA and PPC's Compliance Division,
- Exchange of know-how for the protection of complainants through the creation of an internal reporting channel for anonymous complaints to PPC,
- Support in the development and configuration of the complaint channel through the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology
Internal audit
- Development of an evaluation tool for the Internal Audit System,
- Provide expertise for the development of tools in the Internal Audit Unit,
- Provide access to the Network of Internal Auditors of Public Administration of the National Transparency Authority
Training/awareness raising
- Design and implementation of a training programme on integrity risk management,
- Webinars and workshops on integrity and internal audit issues,
- Awareness raising workshops on the PPC Code of Ethical Conduct as well as on integrity and internal audit issues.

Our cooperation will include, among other things, the further development of the company's integrity mechanisms, the improvement and strengthening of the internal audit system, as well as the organisation of training seminars on relevant issues.”

As stated by the Governor of the National Transparency Authority, Mr. Angelos Binis: "Today we signed with Mr. Stassis the outline of our cooperation for the further strengthening of the mechanisms and procedures of the internal audit system, transparency and accountability system of the PPC S.A. and its affiliated companies. This cooperation will focus on areas such as the exchange of know-how and methodological tools between the NTA and the Regulatory Compliance Directorate of the PPC S.A., the development of tools for the evaluation of the Internal Audit System, the design and implementation of a training programme on integrity risk management, as well as the organisation of awareness-raising workshops on integrity and internal audit issues, webinars and workshops for the staff and executives of the PPC S.A".
