Developing and consolidating best practices that enhance integrity, accountability and responsibility while combating and reducing any potential source of corruption is the objective of the close collaboration between the Navy Veterans Pension Fund (NAT) and the National Transparency Authority (NTA), which was sealed today with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC).
As part of NAT's cooperation with the National Transparency Authority, mechanisms for effective internal audit will be jointly developed along with training and awareness raising of NAT employees on ethics, regulatory compliance and effective service to policyholders.
During the small signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation at the main building of the NTA, the Governor of NAT Mr. Konstantinos Tsagaropoulos stated that "NAT's exclusive objective is to serve the interests of the maritime community. All those who work and serve the maritime profession should be aware that the employees and officers of the NAT will do everything in their power to ensure that they receive a decent, efficient and constructive management of their labour and remuneration. Today's signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Transparency Authority ensures that the procedures and operations of the NAT will serve only the insured persons."
The Governor of the NTA, Mr. Angelos Binis, noted that "The MoC with the NAT marks the partnership between the two institutions in prevention actions, such as the provision of expertise and advisory services by the NTA on internal audit issues, the establishment of an Independent Office of Integrity Advisor, as well as awareness raising actions such as the implementation of training seminars on transparency issues. Internal audit and risk management functions are important tools for achieving the objectives of any institution and it is a great pleasure for me and the Authority's staff to support such initiatives."
