Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Transparency Authority and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), by the Rector, Professor Gerasimos Siasos and the National Transparency Authority (NTA), by the Interim Governor, Mrs. Alexandra Rogakou. Also in attendance, from the NKUA, were the member of the Administrative Council Professor Mr. Dimitrios Kainourgios and the Vice Rector of Administrative Affairs and Student Affairs Professor Mr. Efstathios Efstathopoulos, and from the National Transparency Authority (NTA) the Head of the General Directorate of Integrity and Accountability Ms. Maria Konstantinidou.

With this Memorandum, the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and the NTA lay the foundations for a multi-level cooperation, especially in the following areas:

1.Internal Audit axis:

1. Methodology and tools for the improvement of the Internal Audit System and the internal audit function.
2. Support to the Internal Audit Unit

2. Integrity axis:

1. Strengthening integrity mechanisms such as the Integrity Advisor and the Reporting Receiving Officer (RRO)
2. Develop tools to strengthen integrity and fight corruption

 3. Risk Management Axis:

1. Actions to support and train the risk management body
2. Develop partnerships and exchange of expertise

3. Training axis :

1. Organisation of training actions on the above themes
2. Cooperation and exchange of information for the development of academic research, teaching, training and knowledge dissemination in the fields of transparency, the fight against fraud and corruption, internal control, etc.

4. Awareness-raising axis:

1. Organisation of awareness-raising actions on the above themes
2. Organisation of scientific conferences on Transparency, Integrity, Accountability and Anti-Corruption.

The Rector, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, stressed, among other things, during the signing of the Memorandum: "The Memorandum of Cooperation between the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Transparency Authority is another step of extroversion of our University in the axis of developing partnerships to achieve common goals with important institutions, such as the National Transparency Authority, on issues for which the oldest University of the country has been and will continue to be a pioneer".

Mrs. Alexandra Rogakou noted that "it is with great pleasure that we have today proceeded with the conclusion of an agreement that initiates the planning and implementation of joint actions and programs, aiming to strengthen the procedures of the Internal Audit system that will cover all the functions of the NKUA cooperation that will have multiple benefits, and will contribute to further strengthening citizens' confidence in the institutions".
