A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on Tuesday 27.09.2022 by the Interim Governor of the National Transparency Authority and Head of the Inspections and Audits Unit Mrs. Alexandra Rogkakou and the Rector Professor of the University of the Aegean Professor Mrs. Chryssi Vitsilaki. The subject of the memorandum is the provision of expertise and advisory services by the NTA on internal audit issues and strengthening of integrity mechanisms. The two institutions are laying the foundations for a multi-level cooperation aiming at the implementation of actions in the following areas.

Specifically:

The Internal Audit axis, which includes the methodology and tools to improve the Internal Audit System, as well as the support of the Internal Audit Unit; the Integrity axis, which includes the strengthening of Integrity mechanisms and the implementation of institutions such as the Integrity Advisor; and the Education and Awareness axis, which includes the organisation of training and awareness-raising activities on ethics, integrity and internal audit issues, as well as cooperation and exchange of information to develop academic research, teaching, training and knowledge dissemination on transparency and the fight against fraud and corruption.

Ms. A. Rogkakou noted that "it is with great pleasure that we have proceeded with the conclusion of an agreement that launches the planning and implementation of joint actions and programs aimed at strengthening the procedures of the Internal Audit System that will cover all the functions of the University. This is a collaboration that will have multiple benefits in the implementation of the national strategy for strengthening transparency".

The Rector, Professor Chrysi Vitsilaki said that "The National Transparency Authority plays a key role in the development and consolidation of structures and procedures, as well as attitudes and perceptions and good practices of the Greek public administration that continuously upgrade and enhance integrity, transparency and accountability. It is with great pleasure that on behalf of the University of the Aegean, I have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the NTA in order to utilize the expertise of its staff for a series of joint actions that will support us, among other things, in the development of mechanisms and policies provided by the new framework of public accountability."
