A MoC was signed on Thursday 02.02.2023 by the NTA Interim Governor, Ms. Alexandra Rogkakou and the Director of the Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity Organisation (OPEKA), Ms. Xenia Papastavrou.

The two institutions are laying the foundations for a multi-level cooperation aimed at implementing actions in the following areas.

Specifically: The Internal Audit axis, which includes the methodology and tools for the improvement of the Internal Audit System; the Integrity axis, which includes the strengthening of integrity mechanisms and the implementation of institutions such as the Integrity Advisor; the Risk Management axis, which includes the training of executives in risk management methodology (on the job training) and the joint conduct of a pilot corruption and integrity risk assessment in a selected process or programme, as well as the Education-Awareness axis, which includes the implementation of training and awareness-raising activities on ethics - integrity, internal control and corruption and fraud risk management.

Alexandra Rogkakou, NTA Interim Governor, noted that “It is with great pleasure that we have today concluded an agreement that launches the planning and implementation of joint actions and programmes, with the aim of strengthening the procedures of the Internal Audit system covering all the functions of the Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity Organisation. A cooperation that will have multiple benefits, both for citizens and for the national strategy to strengthen transparency”.

The OPEKA Governor Ms. Xenia Papastavrou said: “It was with great pleasure that I participated today in the MoC signing with the NTA. Transparency, legality and service offered to the citizens are key principles governing the OPEKA operation. I therefore believe that this cooperation between the Organisaton and the NTA, which has considerable expertise and experience, will make a decisive contribution to the fulfilment of these principles and to further consolidate citizens’ trust in institutions”.
