The National Transparency Authority (NTA) is organising a webinar on Wednesday 6 April at 12:00 p.m. on the subject of "Influence Activities: The Greek Institutional Framework".
The seminar will focus on the new legislative framework (Law 4829/2021) for the enhancement of transparency and accountability in State institutions. For the first time in our country, an effective framework has been created to regulate the interaction of public bodies with interest representatives (lobbying), the provisions of which come to cover the legislative and institutional gap that existed and which was repeatedly highlighted by international and European institutions in the context of relevant evaluations. The institutional framework has been developed taking into account best practices of international organisations (e.g. the UNO, Council of Europe, etc.) as well as the corresponding legislative frameworks of other countries.
The Minister of Interior, Mr. Makis Voridis, as the main rapporteur, will focus on the legislative initiative of the Ministry of Interior for the regulation of lobbying in our country and the establishment of the relevant framework, which sets a sound basis for the development of lobbying activities through two important pillars: ensuring integrity at every stage of the process and safeguarding transparency in the exercise of influence.
- What obligations does the new legislative framework create for interest representatives and institutions?
- What are the transparency requirements for persons exercising influence?
- What is the role of the NTA in the implementation of the Law?
- How will compliance be achieved?
The above questions will be the central theme of the seminar, which will be attended by:
- Mr. Angelos Binis, Governor, National Transparency Authority
- Mrs. Agngi Economidou, Senior Advisor, Business Environment and Regulatory Policies Sector, Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV).
- Mr. Theodoros Georgakopoulos, Director of Content, diANEOSIS
- Mr. George Flessas, Senior Consultant
- Mr. Stefanos Loukopoulos, Director/Co-Founder, Vouli Watch
- Dr. Anastasia Sotiropoulou, Legal Advisor to the Governor of the National Transparency Authority
