The National Transparency Authority (central and regional offices) in cooperation with members of the Hellenic Police (Ministry of Citizen Protection) and the Municipal Police during the period 01.01.2023-31.12.2023 carried out audits throughout the country to ensure compliance with the anti-smoking legislation.
Specifically, 4,287 private businesses and legal entities of the (hospitals, municipalities, municipalities, public authorities) were audited and 413 fines were imposed, totaling €383.100,00.
In particular:
317 fines were imposed on managers or representatives of the audited entities, amounting to €373.500,00 and 96 fines were imposed on natural persons, amounting to €9.600,00.
Indicatively from the on-site inspections of NTA’s Regional Office in the regional units of Corinth, Argolida, Laconia, Messinia and Arcadia in public services and hospitals were found:
- In two hospitals: No smoking prevention plan and inadequate supervision of smoking prevention plan’s implementation
- In four municipalities: No smoking prevention plan in place
- In one municipality a smoker, responsible for the implementation of the smoke-free plan, was found
- In two Regional Units: No smoking prevention plan in place
- In one Public Financial Service: No smoking prevention plan in place
The ΝΤΑ established the disciplinary responsibilities of those responsible.
