The NTA in cooperation with the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection & Crisis Management and the Health Scientific Committee of the General Secretariat of Sports, conducted inspections on 27.09.2020 at football stadiums of amateur categories in Attica. The objective was to assess the degree of compliance with health protocols to avoid the spread of SARS-COV-2. Recommendations were made and a horizontal audit programme was developed to be implemented during the conduct of matches throughout the country. The on-site audit revealed non-compliance with the health protocols and the applicable legislation, which presents a risk to public health.
The NTA has developed standard methodologies and tools for the recording and statistical use of inspection findings in accordance with the requirements of the relevant provisions and specific health protocols.
The audit findings revealed the following:
- The number of persons allowed in the sport facility (up to 80) was not respected
- There was an absence of an entry/exit list, antiseptics and instructions from the General Secretariat of Sports at the entrance of the facilities
- Gatherings of more than nine individuals were recorded, as well as the development of table seating in the canteens, where seated groups of more than six individuals were recorded
- In one stadium, the ticket office was not operating as usual, and there was a public congregation.
Audits for sports facilities’ compliance with health protocols will continue and will be extended to all sports and throughout the territory with the imposition of the prescribed sanctions in cases of misconduct.
