On 15 June 2024, the Council of Ministers unanimously approved the update of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan 2022-2025 (NACAP) following a proposal by the Minister of State Mr. Makis Voridis in the presence of the NTA Interim Governor, Ms. Alexandra Rogakou.

The members of the Ministers’ Council were informed about the progress in the NACAP implementation during the first two years of execution, with particular reference to the flagship actions and the results in the areas of Prevention, Audit mechanisms and Raising Awareness, as reflected in the improvement of the country’s ranking in international assessments and indicators. In particular, according to the OECD’s public integrity indicators, Greece is ranked in the 2nd best position (among the Organisation’s member states) in terms of the quality of the design and monitoring system of the Anti-Corruption Strategy, while in the 5th best position in terms of the degree of implementation of the Strategic Plan and in the 6th best position in terms of the quality of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

At the same time, the need to adapt the NACAP to the institutional and operational developments that have taken place since its initial adoption was presented, with the aim of integrating all the actions of the National Integrity System in compliance with the provisions of Law No. 4915/2022 and the addition of new high added value actions as highlighted in the deliberation with Civil Society and policy makers.

* The NACAP (2022-2025) is the national strategy for the holistic response to the corruption phenomenon and at the same time a dynamic coordination tool for the promotion of transparency and accountability in the actions of the Greek Public Administration. The NACAP monitoring and evaluation system is considered a European good practice, while the responsibility for its coordination, monitoring and evaluation falls under the competence of the National Transparency Authority.
