For the third consecutive year, Greece has shown a significant improvement in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), according to the Transparency International Report released today (31.01.2023).
Specifically, in 2022 Greece improved its score by 7 points (from 45 to 52) and its ranking by 16 places (from 67th to 51st) compared to 2018. The country scores 52 points in the assessment and ranks 51st in the global ranking, its highest performance in the last decade. Greece now ranks in the top 30% of the world's best-performing countries, significantly outperforming the average of 180 countries (43/100).
The NTA contributes to these results through its multifaceted audit work, the development and implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP) 2022-2025, the implementation of critical reforms in the fields of: Internal Audit, the regulation of Lobbying, the Gift Policy, Conflict of Interest and the protection of whistleblowers, as well as the introduction of innovations such as the institution of the Integrity Advisor.
Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) captures the level of corruption perception in 180 countries around the world, using a rating scale of 0-100, with 0 (“highly corrupt”) corresponding to countries where there is a high level of corruption perception and 100 (“very clean) to countries with a low level of corruption perception.
