The National Transparency Authority (NTA) participated in the Annual General Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) as a member of the Executive Committee. The event took place in Doha, Qatar, from December 12 to 13, 2025.
The IAACA is the largest global network of anti-corruption authorities, comprising more than 150 members worldwide. The Association’s primary objective is to promote the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) by providing advisory support, exchanging best practices, and offering technical assistance to its member national authorities.
Admission of Twelve (12) New Members from Twelve Countries
During the meetings of the Executive Committee and the Plenary Session, the induction of twelve (12) new members from an equal number of countries was approved, including the Independent Authority against Corruption of the Republic of Cyprus. Simultaneously, the appointment of new Executive Committee members was approved, specifically the Comptroller General of Brazil and the Accountability Authority of the United Arab Emirates.
In her intervention, Ms. Alexandra Rogkakou warmly welcomed the new members, expressing her anticipation for close and constructive cooperation in areas of mutual interest within the framework of the Association’s mission.
Participation of NTA Governor, Alexandra Rogkakou, in the IAACA Annual Conference
The Governor of the National Transparency Authority participated as a keynote speaker at the IAACA Annual Conference, titled: "Integrity for the Future: Innovation, Collaboration & Action against Corruption."
The Conference served as a platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and the formulation of strategic actions to prevent and combat corruption. It contributed to shaping future IAACA initiatives and strengthening cooperation between entities active in the fields of integrity and good governance.
During her presentation in the thematic session "Building Bridges: Strengthening International Cooperation for a Corruption-Free World," Ms. Rogkakou highlighted the significance of international cooperation as a decisive factor in effectively combating corruption. Furthermore, she presented the Greek experience through specific practical examples, emphasizing the importance of the systematic exchange of expertise and best practices to enhance the operational capacity and effectiveness of oversight mechanisms.
The same panel included heads and senior officials of anti-corruption authorities from Italy, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia, as well as a representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), highlighting the multifaceted and international nature of the discussion.
Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the NTA and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong.
On the sidelines of the Association’s proceedings proceedings, the National Transparency Authority (NTA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Independent Commission Against Corruption of Hong Kong, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the areas of corruption prevention, the exchange of best practices, and raising public awareness on issues of public integrity.
In her remarks, the Governor of the NTA noted that the signing of the Memorandum is the result of the joint and systematic efforts of both Authorities to develop stable cooperative ties, with the aim of effectively combating corruption and strengthening public integrity mechanisms. She stressed that while significant progress has been made, substantial challenges remain. By signing this Memorandum, both parties commit to continuing this effort with a shared vision of a corruption-free world, noting that the exchange of best practices and expertise in fields of common interest enhances effectiveness for the benefit of citizens and businesses alike.
