The NTA Governor Mr. Angelos Binis met with Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos, former EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, today, 24/11/2021. During the meeting there was an exchange of views on transparency issues and their impact on national life and Greece's image in Europe. The necessity of combating corruption through the implementation of national measures, in conjunction with the utilisation of European experience, was emphasised.
This initiative aims to reinforce public trust in the Greek state's institutions, while also driving economic growth. Mr. Binis highlighted the quantifiable impact of the Authority's actions in investigating corruption, implementing prevention policies and integrating all social forces in the fight against corruption. In this multifaceted activity, the Authority draws on a range of resources, including the good practices and recommendations of the EU, the OECD, the Council of Europe and bilateral international cooperation.
Mr. Avramopoulos emphasised that the fight against corruption and the promotion of transparency is a constant concern and a foundation of democracy, and constitutes a primary obligation of every favoured State and the judiciary.
