In the framework of the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategic Plan (NACAP) (2018-2021), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in cooperation with the National Transparency Authority (NTA), the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), organised seminars for primary and secondary school teachers, which took place on 18 and 19 November 2021. The seminars are part of the technical assistance project on anti-corruption in Greece, implemented by UNODC with the financial support of the European Commission.
The seminars started with the greetings of the Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Ms. Z. Makri, the Secretary General for Primary, Secondary and Special Education and Training Mrs. A. Koptsi, the Governor of the National Transparency Authority, Mr. Angelos Binis, Mr. G. Gallo, Head of the Corruption and Economic Crime Section of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Ms. M. Konstantinidou, Head of the General Directorate of Integrity and Accountability of the National Transparency Authority and Ms. S. Yovanoglou, Counsellor A' Social Sciences of the Institute of Education Policy. The response of the teachers was impressive, with a total of about two hundred (200) participants on both days.
The project seeks to raise awareness among primary and secondary school students through the development and promotion of integrity promotion programmes in the Greek education system. In particular, a toolkit was developed, which includes interactive and innovative educational material, as well as practical pedagogical guidelines. The planned seminars aimed to enhance teachers' capacity to use the new toolkit in the classroom and received a broad positive response from the participating teachers.
